Who is Ramo De Mello?
Ramon Andrade de Mello is a board certified medical oncologist in Portugal, Brazil and UK. He holds the Certificate in Medical Oncology by passing in the European examination of ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology), Lugano, Switzerland, and in the Portuguese National Board Examination by the ACSS, Ministry of Health/Portuguese Medical Association, Lisbon, Portugal.
Education & training
He completed specialization in medicine and molecular oncology and his PhD in Molecular Oncology (lung cancer) at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto, Portugal. He also completed the medical oncology training at Portuguese Oncology Institute, Porto, Portugal, supported by the ACSS, Ministry of Health, Lisbon, Portugal, and a clinical research fellowship in lung cancer clinical trials at the Lung Unit, Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, Chelsea, London, United Kingdom, supported by the ESMO. He is Fellow Member of the American College of Physicians.
Clinical experience
Currently, Professor Ramon De Mello works only privately in São Paulo, Brazil, but he sees patients from the UK by video call appointments. Prof De Mello is Deputy Lead of the Medical Oncology Master Programme in University of Buckingham, UK, Professor of Medical Oncology at Nine of July University, São Paulo, Brazil, former Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Former Senior Clinical Researcher at the University of Oxford, Oxford, UK. Furthermore, he was honorary Professor of Medicine of the University of Porto since 2010 to 2023. Professor De Mello performs both basic and clinical research on biomarkers, GI cancer, lung and breast cancer; further, he has an active office working in medical oncology at London, UK.
Research Experience
He participated in more than 40 industry sponsored and academic phase II - III clinical trials as sub-investigator and principal investigator. He learned the most important principles of the good clinical practice international guidelines, medical audit and governance. His main fields of research are immunotherapy, biomarkers, colorectal/gastric cancer, breast/lung cancer.
